Building an Anti-Racist Vocabulary
Join the Klau Institute for Civil and Human Rights as Rachel Swarns explores the relationship of the American Catholic Church to slavery in the United States. Swarns is a journalist, author and associate professor of journalism at New York University, and writes on race and race relations as a contributing writer for The New York Times. Her articles about Georgetown University’s roots in slavery touched off a national conversation about American universities and their ties to this painful period of history. She is the author of The 272: The Families who Were Enslaved and Sold to Build the American Catholic Church.
Building an Anti-Racist Vocabulary is a weekly lecture series presenting preeminent scholars, thought leaders, and public intellectuals to guide our community through topics necessary to a deeper understanding of systemic racism and racial justice.
