The Center for Civil and Human Rights, in cooperation with The International Center for Transitional Justice and the Instituto de Democracia y Derechos Humanos de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, will launch a new online version of the Final Report of the Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission at the Latin American Studies Association congress in Chicago.

The Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission was formed in 2001 to investigate political violence committed during the previous 20 years of that country's troubled history. The Commission's Spanish-language report, Hatun Willakuy, issued in 2003, documented atrocities including forced disappearences, terrorist attacks, and other human rights violations.

Following its publication, The Center for Civil and Human Rights commissioned an English-langauge translation of the abbreviated version of the Report, in partnership with Instituto de Democracia y Derechos Humanos (IDEHPUCP) in Peru. CCHR is now collaborating with The International Center for Transitional Justice and IDEHPUCP to launch an updated online version of the report, which will make the document available to a broader international audience. The event in Chicago will feature a panel discussion by representatives of the partnering organizations and a presentation of the web site.
