Two alumni from the Center for Civil and Human Rights’ LL.M. Program have been appointed to lead key African human rights commissions.
The Kenyan Parliament approved Kagwiria Mbogori (LLM ’97) to head the Kenyan National Human Rights Commission, while in Liberia, President Sirleaf has named James Verdier (LLM ’02) as Chairperson of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission.
Mbogori and Verdier are the latest CCHR alumni to make their mark in the African human rights community. They join a number of other LL.M. graduates who have risen to top posts, including Mbuyiseli Madlanga (LLM '90), who last year was appointed to the Constitutional Court of South Africa.
