The University of Notre Dame’s Center for Civil and Human Rights (CCHR) invites applications for its LL.M. degree program in international human rights law. The application deadline is January 15 for classes that begin in August 2014. Application information is available here.
The one-year degree program is geared toward lawyers from outside the United States and provides specialized study and research opportunities in international human rights law. Students in this program analyze human rights issues with members of the faculty who are specialists in the field, while also drawing upon the resources of Notre Dame’s prestigious Kellogg Institute for International Studies, Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, Mendoza College of Business and other departments of the University. This approach prepares a select group or lawyers to transform the legal, social, economic and political contexts in which human rights are violated.
Upon completion of the LL.M. program, the CCHR funds most graduates to complete a three-to-six month human rights-related internship. Our vast alumni network assists us in placing students at top human rights institutions around the world, including the United Nations, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, Human Rights Watch, and the International Commission of Jurists, among many others.
The CCHR has an alumni network of over 300 human rights lawyers from more than 85 countries around the world. Our graduates serve at senior levels in international tribunals, intergovernmental bodies, government, academia and preeminent non-governmental organizations, promoting respect for human rights.
